As your new CEO, it has been both a privilege and a pleasure to lead the Commissioning Specialists
Association through an exciting and productive year. Working closely with our committees and the
dedicated office team, we have made real progress in strengthening the CSA, expanding our influence,
and delivering value to our members.
KE Y HIGHLIGHT S FR O M 2 0 2 5
• Record Training Activity – Over 227 Distance Learning Courses have already been issued this
year, alongside the thriving Commissioning Management Core Concepts course. A total of 112
Commissioning Managers have now been signed off, helping raise professional standards across
the industry. Uptake of the Grade 4 online exams also continues steadily.
• Water Treatment Training – The launch of our new Water Treatment DLCs has been a landmark
achievement, giving engineers a clear route to demonstrate competence and gain a relevant
SKILLcard.
• Membership Growth – With 282 new individual members, 16 new corporates, and 8 new associates
joining this year, CSA is experiencing its strongest growth in history.
• Technical Guidance – Publication of TM22: Chemical Free Water Treatment as a free resource for
members has been widely welcomed.
• Wider Recognition – CSA continues to influence industry standards through active involvement
with CIBSE, BSRIA, and BESA, as well as a new collaboration with the Nuclear Commissioning
Excellence Forum.
• Digital Transformation – The CSA office is now close to paper-free, with a new CSA App and
enhanced digital membership services in development.
L OOKING AHEAD
We are determined to keep this momentum. The updated DLC programme is well underway, with DLC-B
nearly finished, and DLC-C due to start in 2026. We will continue to collaborate with industry partners
and invest in technical resources that directly support our members.

The progress we have made this year is thanks to our Technical and Training Committees, our office
team, and of course, you – our members. Your ongoing support and engagement ensure that the CSA
continues to grow as a strong and influential voice for commissioning.

Through the hard work, determination and support of our wider team, the CSA are yielding great result. A variety
of key CSA projects now available to members or near to completion.
C O MMIS SIONING MANA GEMENT C ORE C ONCEP T S C OUR SE
Commissioning Managers; this fully aligns with CIBSE CCM Commissioning Code M: Commissioning Management.
This course has been continually adjusted and practical examples added to provide real world examples
of the 25 CM activities. If you are looking to achieve a CSA Commissioning Manager grade (CM1, 2 or 3) this
training course is helps you achieve your grade. The CSA self-deliver this course, with 8 full training courses
completed so far in 2025. This includes delivery of our 1st in-person course, with all the feedback received so
far being incredibly positive. If you are looking to book your place onto the next available course, please contact

WA TER TREA T MENT DEVEL OP MENT S
Under the leadership of Roger Carlin and his team, the final stages of the Water Treatment coursework have been
completed: All 3 Distance Learning Courses (DLC’s) are complete and Grade 1 through Grade 4 examinations are
now available. We extend our thanks to Roger and the entire Water Treatment team for their dedication and hard
work, bringing much needed training material to the industry, If you are interested in the Water Treatment DLC
Pathway or taking a Water Treatment DLC please get in contact with us at office@csa.org.uk.
CAREER AND DEVEL OP MENT HANDBOOK REVISED F OR 2 0 2 5
The latest version of the handbook has been revised to include:
• Guidance on taking the exams – to improve the awareness of what is and not allowed in the exam this is fully
detailed in Sections 3.5 & 4.1.
• Pathway of Development Updates
• Core Concept updates within PoD

INDU STRY COLLABORATIONS : CIBSE , BSRIA , BE S A & A C TU ATE UK
Our collaborative efforts continue to make progress:
• The newly updated CIBSE CCW Commissioning Code W: Water Distribution Systems was successfully published in
June 2025.
• Our continued partnership with BESA has allowed all Commissioning and Water Treatment exams from Grade
1 through to Grade 4 to be hosted on their platform.
• Our partnership with Actuate UK continues to grow with the Transactable Buildings Project 1st draft Proposal
developing.
FINAL WORDS
We are always on the look-out for active members with a Commissioning Grade 4 or above to volunteer for becoming
Commissioning Distance Learning Course Tutors. This is to assist with our growing members undertaking Commissioning
DLC’s. If you meet the description above and are interested in becoming a Commissioning DLC Tutor please contact
